Explore the Queen City Virtually from our Southpark Charlotte Apartments

Have some virtual fun at our Southpark Charlotte apartments

As comfy and luxurious as our Southpark Charlotte apartments are, it’s hard to stay cooped up inside for the majority of the day. But due to the recent health crisis, it’s what we all must do in order to keep our community and our loved ones safe and healthy. There are plenty of activities you can do at home to stay busy, whether that’s baking and crafting or home improvement and playing games – but it’s just not quite the same as going out and exploring The Queen City.

Luckily for residents of our Southpark Charlotte apartments, there are tons of fun virtual experiences you can take part in from the comfort of your living room, as well as fun activities still being offered by local businesses. Plus? You’ll be participating all while supporting your favorite places and businesses in the city. Here are just a few Charlotte-specific virtual activities and stay-at-home experiences to help you stay busy and entertained during quarantine.

Play ‘pub’ trivia online with Mindless Minutia Trivia

Sadly, you can’t meet your friends for happy hour and play trivia at your favorite bar right now. However, trivia night is still alive and well in Charlotte – online! Mindless Minutia Trivia is hosting virtual trivia nights. You can win lots of fun prizes like CBD products, gift cards for Charlotte pubs, and more. Check their event schedule on the Mindless Minutia Trivia Facebook page to find out when the next trivia night is hosted.

Take a virtual cooking class with Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen in Charlotte is normally a place you can gather with friends and family to learn how to cook heartfelt, delicious meals. Of course, until gatherings are allowed and essential businesses are open, her doors are closed. However, Chef Alyssa is still offering her classes online! For just $15, you will have access to a private cooking show with Chef Alyssa via Zoom. Choose from classes to learn how to cook gnocchi, beignets, meringues, Latin street food, and more. Visit her website for more details.

Custom-decorate cake pops or cookies from Wow Factor Cakes

Local bakery, Wow Factor Cakes, is known for its extravagant and gorgeous works of art that they call cake and dessert. A 6-piece cake pop-making set is $20 and a custom cookie-decorating kit (which includes cookies, sprinkles, and frosting) is $19. Cookie themes include dinosaurs, sea life, and cars. Contact the store directly for more info.

‘Attend’ a free cultural experience through the ASC

“Connect to virtual arts, science, and history experiences all hosted by local artists, scientists, historians, and organizations,” it says on the ASC Culture For All website. Hop online and attend virtual lectures, demonstrations, and more ranging in a variety of topics. Learn more about the Queen City’s history, attend a music class, let loose in a dance class, or watch an upbeat concert. Keep an eye on the ASC Virtual Experience page for more details.

Watch and listen to Charlotte’s Josh Daniel’s Grateful Band

During every single day of quarantine, Charlotte’s Josh Daniel’s Grateful Band will be putting on a concert at 5 pm EST. That’s every single day at 5. This means you and everyone in your household can jam out and dance around your house listening to awesome covers of Grateful Dead for a few moments while forgetting that our entire lives are on hold.

‘Visit’ the N.C. Museum of Art

Even though galleries are, of course, temporarily closed, you can still get your art-fix. Thankfully, the NC Museum of Art of Raleigh is offering plenty of virtual tours and exhibits. Not only can you ‘tour’ exhibits, the museum is also providing art and crafts inspiration, hieroglyph lessons, and more. Visit the NCMA’s website for more information and exhibition details.

Have a picnic at home with a curated to-go box from Camp North End

Support a local restaurant and help with a good cause by ordering a curated to-go box via Camp North End. For just $30, you’ll receive cured meats, cheeses, crackers, and rosemary-spiced almonds from Chop & Chisel, bourbon apple jam from Bleu Barn North End, and salted caramel chocolates from Wentworth and Fenn.
