The Best Art in Texas, Close to Our Downtown Fort Worth Apartments
Most American cities have an art museum. Maybe they’ll have a couple of art galleries, too. But here in Fort Worth, we go big or go home with no fewer than three art museums, all on the same city block.
The Modern Art Museum is not only architecturally striking with its contemporary, all-glass façade that glows in the reflecting pool, but it’s also a local hub for some 3,000 post-WWII artworks. According to their website, “The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is dedicated to collecting, presenting, and interpreting international developments in post–World War II art in all media.” Their artworks are thought-provoking, alluring, and involve a wide range of mediums, from photography to mixed media to sculpture, and more. To see incredible artworks from Texas and beyond, you’ll just have to spend a day here at this incredible museum.
Just next door to the Modern Art Museum is the Kimbell Art Museum, which houses renowned Asian and European art in two landmark buildings designed by famed architect Louis Kahn. Explore the works of Monet, Michelangelo, and Matisse, as well as Egyptian and classical antiques, and art from Africa and the ancient Americas.
The third art museum in the Fort Worth Cultural District is the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, which proudly showcases Western artworks, including those by Remington & Russell, plus Hudson River School paintings and more. This museum is dedicated to American art and will make you feel proud of the works our country has produced. Be sure to look into their events, which includes live music, food, and art in a family-friendly, community setting.

Live Music: One of the Toe-Tappin’ Things Fort Worth Does Best
There’s plenty of fun to be had in the Fort Worth Cultural District, especially when the sun goes down. Grab friends and hit up some of the Cultural District’s finest live music venues. Listen to some funk and eat a mouth-watering burger at Magnolia Motor Lounge. Featuring some of the best local acts, this garage converted to restaurant really puts the “garage” back in “garage band”.
Lola’s Trailer Park Bar is always a good time, showcasing both local and national acts on two outdoor stages. Boasting a casual, laid back atmosphere and friendly staff, Lola’s is a Fort Worth favorite for catching a rock ‘n roll show while sipping on an ice-cold beverage.
You’d never guess Pop’s Safari Cigars & Fine Wines is a hoppin’ live music venue, but they have some of the best live music on the weekends. While you’re there, you can stop on some fine wines, puff on a cigar, and enjoy their exotic fare on their patio.
