A Few Statistics and Some History

Fulton County Schools (FCS) is the fourth largest school district in the state of Georgia with approximately 14,000 employees including 7,500 teachers in 106 schools, administrative buildings, and support buildings. Over the course of the 2019-2020 school year, it’s estimated that Fulton County Schools will see 93,500 students spread across 59 elementary schools, 19 middle schools,18 high schools, and 10 charter organizations.

The Fulton County School System was founded in 1871, and although it’s not the largest district in terms of population, it is one of the largest in terms of geographical area. The county is more than 70 miles long and, historically, included former Milton and Campbell counties – making Fulton the size of three counties combined.

As the city of Atlanta has grown, families are becoming more and more attracted to FCS because of its reputation for consistent quality in their system. Their goal is to educate and help children become involved, informed, and active citizens of the world.

Operating under the Ocee Way, the school encourages its students to “be respectful, be responsible, and be a problem solver.” Greatschools.org rates Ocee Elementary an 8 out of 10 overall and a 10 out of 10 when it comes to test scores, so you can rest assured your little ones will be adequately prepared for middle school.

When students practice the Ocee Way, they are rewarded with Otter Bucks. Students who earn Otter Bucks can ‘spend’ them on classroom rewards or at the school’s Otter Market each month. The staff and teachers at Ocee want to encourage an environment of active learning, positivity, and confidence amongst the students.
