For potential students of MTSU, not only is the commute to campus amazing, the school itself was named among the “Best Universities in the Nation” by Princeton Review. Offering over 300 undergraduate and graduate degrees, students can study in a diverse, wide-array of disciplines that will prepare them for high-demand careers. Some of the most prominently-known degrees at MTSU include Recording Industry, Aerospace, Music, and Concrete Industry Management programs.
A Bit of History
Middle Tennessee State University opened on September 11, 1911, offering a two-year training program for teachers – originally named Middle Tennessee State Normal School. By 1925, it evolved into a four-year teachers’ college with the power of granting a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1936, the Bachelor of Arts was added, and by 1965, the institution was advanced to university status. Since then, the school has developed and grown a Doctor of Arts and Ph. D programs as well.

For students that live at our apartments near MTSU, you’ll never find yourself bored with over 340 student organizations, fraternities, sororities, and interest groups to choose from. The largest student organization on campus is the Band of Blue, the school’s marching band. With over 350 members, any student who can display good marching skills and a fundamental proficiency on an instrument can join the group.
Middle Tennessee’s athletic teams compete in Conference USA of NCAA’s Division I and are known as the Blue Raiders. MTSU has one NCAA Championship in both Golf and Tennis.
