The 5 best places to get outside near our luxury apartments in Dublin, OH

When you live at Dublin Park in Dublin Ohio, you’re right between the best of both worlds. Just outside your front door are the most exciting happenings in downtown Columbus, but if you want to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle, there are some beautiful green spaces where you can take a hike, throw a frisbee, or take your furry friends out for a doggone good time.

Even though you’re in the middle of a bustling metropolis, Columbus loves its local greenspaces and parks. Here are just some of our favorites that are steps away from our luxury apartments in Columbus.

The Scioto Mile: Downtown Greenspaces in the Middle of a Metropolis

Heralded as “Columbus’ Downtown Riverfront Destination”, the Scioto Mile is a perfect place to take a walk or jog with your kids or dogs, right alongside the banks of the beautiful Scioto River. There are multiple parks alongside the Scioto Mile, offering up plenty of greenspace. Bicentennial Park, a 4.66-acre park, features an interactive fountain, a performing arts stage, and a fine dining restaurant called Milestone 229, featuring a covered outdoor dining terrace.

Take a walk along the promenade, which connects Battelle Riverfront Park with the Bicentennial Park. The promenade features beautiful gardens, playgrounds for children, and a beautiful walk along the Scioto River.

The Scioto Mile is also home of the Scioto Audubon, which features a climbing wall, wetlands, bird watching, and more. According to their website, this wildlife oasis was “an industrial area dominated by factories, warehouses, and railroad yards for much of Columbus’ history.” Today, it’s a natural area of 120 acres for migrating birds.

That’s not all! There’s plenty more to do at the Scioto Mile! It’s the place for music festivals, summer canoeing, and much more. There’s always something happening, so pop on down to see what’s up. It’s a short 10-minute drive from our luxury Dublin apartments.

The Olentangy Trail: Explore Columbus and Get Fit While You’re At It!

If you want to explore Columbus free from the confines of a car and traffic, then the Olentangy Trail is the perfect way to get fit and explore your new city. Spanning 17.5 miles from Worthington all the way down to Columbus, the Olentangy trail is a paved trail that follows along the eastern side of the Olentangy River. Passing through beautiful woods and many unique neighborhoods of Ohio’s capital, the Olentangy trail is beautiful every time of year.

There are multiple trailheads that can get you onto the Olentangy Trail. The ones closest to River Oaks are at Tuttle Park on the OSU campus and Confluence Park in downtown Columbus.

Goodale Park: A Community Gathering Place

To the east of our luxury apartments is Goodale Park, a beautiful public park in Victorian Village with a pond, a stage for live performances, and beautifully manicured walking trails perfect for a dog walk or an afternoon jog.

Goodale Park is home to the annual Community Festival (affectionately known as ComFest), which is a large, free, non-corporate music and arts festival that occurs every summer in Columbus. At Community Fest, you can explore the artisan booths, listen to local music, and hang out with friends in the park, playing frisbee, making art, and meeting your neighbors.

Fun historic fact about Goodale Park: In the Civil War, it served as a staging area for Union troops, known as Camp Jackson. Today, it’s a public green space where locals jog, walk their dogs, and hang out with their friends.

Wyman Woods Park: A Perfect Place for Kids

Have a couple kiddies who absolutely love playing outside? Wyman Woods is just down the street from our luxury apartments in Columbus and is a great place to spend the afternoon, whether you play ball, throw a frisbee, or watch your kids as they play on the brand-new playset. Wyman Woods features beautiful green fields for sports, a lush patch of woods, and a covered gathering place for group events, family gatherings, and picnics.

Spindler Dog Park: A Safe Playground for Your Furry Friends

One of the things that residents at Dublin Park love the most about living here is how pet-friendly the apartments are. Just down the street is Spindler Dog Park, which offers beautiful green space, nice trees, benches for human visitors, and drinking water for doggies who come for a day of fun.

Dog lovers appreciate how the park always has just enough dogs to throw a happy dog party.  It’s a great place to bring your dogs in a closed-in area where you can relax and not worry about your dog’s safety.

Chadwick Arboretum North: Learn About Local Plants and Flowers

Another great place is the Chadwick Arboretum – a garden-lover’s dream. Boasting 17 gardens, the Arboretum offers walking trails that wind through various educational garden beds that showcase flowers native to central Ohio. Lane Avenue Gardens includes the Bioch Cancer Survivor’s garden, which is a perfect place to relax and reflect on self-healing and rejuvenation. The Chadwick Arboretum is dedicated to teaching the public about local plants and best gardening practices in Central Ohio.

According to their website, their mission is to “honor our Land-Grant tradition by providing extensive and diverse plant collections for education, research, and enjoyment.” It’s also a great place to take the kids and grandparents!
