Golf is a popular sport in and around Springboro as made evident by the number of championship-quality golf courses in the area, with one of the best being PipeStone Golf Club.  PipeStone features an 18-hole layout designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills that offers an excellent golfing experience regardless of skill level. With its graceful rolling fairways, dynamic elevation changes, and “best greens in the Miami Valley” according to their website, it’s easy to see why Golf Digest awarded PipeStone 4-stars and recognizes the course as one of their “Best Places to Play.” PipeStone’s beautiful setting and charming amenities also make it a great place for special events of all kinds and their customer service is second-to-none.

Not too far from PipeStone is yet another great golf course, The Golf Club at Yankee Trace. Opening in 1995 with a focus on bringing championship-level golf to the Dayton area, Yankee Trace quickly became recognized locally and nationally for its championship layout and quality course design. The Dayton Daily News has named Yankee Trace the “Best Golf Course” in Dayton for 14 years straight, while Golf Digest has also heaped praise on to the club, giving it a superb rating of 4 ½ stars and including Yankee Trace on their list of top 50 municipal golf courses. Be sure to check out their website for more information on their practice facilities, lessons, golf leagues, and tournaments.

If your a bit further north, Miamisburg is a huge area for golfers with even more golf courses around, including Sycamore Creek Country Club, Heatherwoode Golf Club, and Shaker Run Golf Club. No matter where you choose to tee it up, you’re sure to enjoy the unique golfing experience each of these courses has to offer.

Outdoor fun at beautiful Miamisburg parks

Just a short drive from our apartments in Dayton is the beautiful Waldruhe Park, that offers a stunning green space where dogs can stretch their legs and their humans can enjoy some time with nature. Locals deem it the perfect place to eat lunch for those who work near Austin Landing. Others describe it as a perfect place to bring the kids for a day of outdoor fun. Enjoy walking through the trees seeing them change through the seasons, toss the baseball around, have a picnic with family, and let the kids play on the playground. Debbie, a Miamisburg local, describes the park in fond terms, “It was Saturday evening. The park had families enjoying the trails, taking graduation pictures and having dinner. We brought a pizza from Dewey’s and had a quiet dinner in a clean park.” Now that sounds like the perfect way to spend an evening!

For a more expansive outdoor parks experience, be sure to check out Twin Creek Metropark, which is deemed “the best wilderness experience in the region”. Twin Creek is part of the Twin Valley Conservation Corridor and boasts a mature forest sprawled out amongst awe-inspiring ravines, making it the ideal place for hiking, backpacking, and camping. Twin Creek is also one of the cleanest waterways in Ohio. With 12 different species of mussels and 62 types of fish calling it home, Twin Creek is a favorite for locals who enjoy casting a line. Twin Creek is a great place for equestrians too, with miles of scenic horseback riding trails at your disposal.

Just up North Springboro Pike is a Dayton-area favorite – the Cox Arboretum Metropark. This scenic retreat features gardens, ponds, and a butterfly habitat that evokes scenes similar to that of Monet’s famous garden painting. Bring your puppies so they can frolic among the flowers, watch some Koi fish and turtles sunning themselves, and enjoy a beautiful day among the greenery and wildlife. Holly, a local guide, says, “This is the best maintained park I have ever seen. It kind of looks like a Chinese pagoda when you pull in. There are flowers everywhere and an awesome butterfly garden. Plenty of benches are scattered throughout the park and tons of walkways.” It’s the best place to spend a day with the family and get some fresh air.
