An Iconic Statement: The Connor Group Central Support Office

Like everything else it does, when The Connor Group decided to build a new Central Support Office, it set clear expectations and set them high.

“We told all the architects we met with that this project would win awards and be something no one has ever done before,” said Larry Connor, Managing Partner. “The ones who said ‘we’ll try’ didn’t make the cut.”

Even before ground was broken on the new building, our first goal was met. In August 2012 the Chicago Athenaeum awarded The Connor Group building an American Architecture Award. The winners – who came from across the United States, China, India, Saudi Arabia, France, and Switzerland, among others – became part of a traveling international exhibition. Associates moved into their new facility the summer of 2014, nearly four years after the design process began.

The building, designed in partnership Larry Connor and the nationally renowned architecture firm Moody-Nolan, is a one-of-a-kind structure. “We wanted it to be a place that makes people excited to come to work,” said Connor. “Like everything else, we wanted it to be the best and we wanted it to be innovative. The building had to represent us and our culture.”
