Visitors will love hiking the 10 miles of dog-friendly trails over a variety of terrains while taking in view of streams, trees, meadows, and small lakes. There are also numerous fishing opportunities within Reedy Creek Park.
Not only is the nature preserve brimming with incredible mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians, but guests can visit the Nature Center to learn more about these regional species through exhibits and interactive experiences. Hornets Nest Park
Get active and get some fresh air at Hornets Nest Park—also just a quick 15-minute drive from our Mallard Creek apartments. The 140-acre park is the perfect place to have a little fun by taking advantage of all the amenities the space has to offer. Visitors will find a softball complex, an 18-hole disc golf course, 12 tennis courts, 7 horseshoe pits, 2 playgrounds, 2 basketball courts, and 2 volleyball courts. UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens
One of the most serene and relaxing places to take a leisurely stroll happens to be located less than 10 minutes from our Northlake Charlotte apartments. The UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens features major collections of orchids, carnivorous plants, rhododendrons, and dozens more incredible species of flora. Guests can explore the McMillan Greenhouse where you’ll find and learn about plant varieties from five environments across the globe. Wander the stunning, landscaped paths that take you into specifically curated gardens with native and non-native plant life.

Carolina Raptor Center
Find yourself in awe of raptors and other birds of prey at the Carolina Raptor Center. This incredible non-profit organization not only provides fun and exciting educational experiences to its visitors, but they also treat 900-1,000 injured birds a year, releasing almost 70% back into the wild. Guests will enjoy walking the ¾-mile Raptor Trail which features over 30 species of raptors, hawks, eagles, owls, and falcons.

Stretching across 7.4 miles, the Mallard Creek and Clark’s Creek Greenways have both paved and gravel trails for walkers, joggers, and cyclists alike. Not only is it an ideal place to get your lungs pumping while enjoying the gorgeous scenery, but visitors will also love all of the wildlife that makes an appearance along the way—keep an eye out for butterflies, herons, foxes, deer, hawks, and beavers.
