Murfree Spring Wetlands

Located just under 4 miles from our apartments near MTSU is Murfree Spring Wetlands, a 25-acre city park with paved paths, a playground, a water garden, and more. Explore local nature as you wind through the protected wetlands, seeing and learning about the regional flora and fauna. Stop at the History Wall where you’ll find a timeline of the area dating back to prehistoric times before walking on the stepping stones through the pond-like water feature. Stones River National Battlefield

You don’t have to drive far to reach one of the area’s most historic parks – Stones River National Battlefield. The 570-acre park and cemetery is situated along the Stones River and offers visitors 7 miles of walking and hiking trails, interpretive programs, and wildlife watching. Sitting at the site of a key battle in the Civil War, Stones River National Battlefield is now a popular destination for history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Barfield Crescent Park

Just over a mile from our apartments in Murfreesboro is Barfield Crescent Park. The beautiful 430-acre community park is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon with your friends and family. On-site, visitors will find multiple picnic areas, seven miles of paved and unpaved hiking trails, playgrounds, a disc golf course, horseshoe pits, camping, and more. If you love being outside – Barfield Crescent Park is the place to be. Make sure to make a pit stop at the Wilderness Station where you’ll find a nature center that educates guests about the local wildlife that frequents the park. Long Hunter State Park

For those that enjoy the great outdoors, Long Hunter State Park is practically heaven on earth. The park boasts over 2,600 acres and offers a long list of recreational activities for its visitors. Guests will find over 20 miles of hiking trails over a variety of terrain and difficulty levels. On the paths, you’ll have the option to walk a self-guided, paved arboretum trail as well as a 5.5-mile Volunteer Trail that runs along the J. Percy Priest Lakeshore. For those that prefer watersports, the lake has two boat ramps as well many great spots to post up and go fishing. Indian Hills Golf Club

Less than a mile from our Murfreesboro apartments is Indian Hills Golf Club, a year-round 18-hole public golf course with a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse. Spend a Saturday playing a round of golf in the gorgeous resort-style atmosphere. The par 72 layout is 6,800 yards and offers many tee boxes to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Cannonsburgh Village
