Montgomery County College Promise

Promises Kept

The Connor Group Kids and Community Partners have been involved with Montgomery County College Promise since its inception in 2011, coming on-board as one of the organization’s first and largest investors.

And Connor Group associates continue to leverage that investment with their time and talents.

What is College Promise?

College Promise identifies, selects and supports 50 Montgomery County poverty impacted students each year.  Those students are paired with a mentor for their entire high school career. If they remain in good standing, they go to college at little to no cost to them or their families.

Connor Group associates first started volunteering to mentor students in 2011. To date, associates have mentored 21 students, investing approximately 2,500 hours in mentoring. Mentors meet with their mentees once a week during the school year for 30 to 60 minutes. Some associates have now helped guide their mentees through both their high school and college careers.

College Promise students are 52% less likely than their peers to skip school, and 37% less likely to skip class.
