Here is just a short list of some fun places nearby that make our Charlotte, NC apartments so desirable and Charlotte such a great city to live in.

Spend the week (or more!) exploring the Levine Center for the Arts

Just a short distance from our apartments in Charlotte is the Levine Center for the Arts. Home to four museums and theaters, some of which are mentioned in detail below, you can spend hours, days, or even weeks exploring everything this center has to offer. You’ll find something to see or do nearly every single day and night of the week so make it a point to check the different calendars often.

View masterpieces by great artists at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art

Picasso, Warhol, Giacometti, and many other influential artists have their work displayed at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, which is a part of the Levine Center for the Arts. Opened in 2010, this intimate museum features permanent installations as well as rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The museum also features Bechtler By Night every third Friday of the month where you can view the galleries, participate in games and activities, watch live entertainment, and drink cocktails from the full bar. Be sure to check out Jazz at the Bechtler every first Friday of the month as well.

Art, art, and more art at the Mint Museum

Dedicated to collecting, conserving, exhibiting, and sharing art from all around the world, the Mint Museum is another museum located at the Levine Center for the Arts. The incredible architecture of the building is worth a visit alone, however, the five-story facility boasts ‘cutting-edge exhibitions’ featuring art from across the planet by artists ranging from well-known to the up-and-coming. Check their website often as they have special events a few times a week.

Take in a live performance at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center

Close to our Uptown Charlotte apartments is the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center which houses three spaces: Booth Playhouse, Belk Theater, and Stage Door Theater. Attend events from rock concerts to operas and symphonies to world-class lectures at the Belk Theater. Or catch a show with your special someone at the more intimate Booth Playhouse which contains only 434 seats, but offers a more cozy atmosphere.

More theaters can be found at Spirit Square

Located just two blocks away from the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is Spirit Square. Spirit Square contains two more beloved Charlotte theaters – McGlohon Theater and Duke Energy Theater. Originally a Baptist church, the McGlohon Theater is Uptown’s only historic theater and is now a showplace for an array of live performances. The Duke Energy Theater is a multi-purpose space that you’ll often find companies and organizations using for seminars and lectures.

Get up close and personal at the Stage Door Theater

The Stage Door Theater is located just off Charlotte’s North College Street and has an amazingly small and flexible layout. Jazz performances can be found weekly, while appearances by singer/songwriters and guitarists are a regular occurrence. If you’re up for a good laugh, be sure to attend one of the theater’s seasonal improv events.

Choose your own adventure at The Imperial

“Choose your own adventure” is what The Imperial says on their website. That’s because they offer a dual experience at their location. Choose The Imperial’s rooftop for a casual, laid-back experience or their lounge for something a bit more swanky. Either way, you’ll experience some of Charlotte’s finest hand-crafted cocktails that are works of art in and of themselves. Relax with half-priced martinis on Thursday or discounted whiskeys on Wednesdays. You’ll also find late-night live music and DJs Thursday through Saturday every week.

Learn about Charlotte’s history and look toward the future at the Levine Museum of the New South

Take a journey through Charlotte’s history at the Levine Museum of the New South. You’ll find a variety of interactive and immersive exhibits that cover the history of the New South from the Civil War up through today. In addition to permanent exhibits, you’ll find temporary exhibitions walking you through Charlotte’s transformation from agriculture to industrialization, Southern culture, and so much more. “We connect the past to the future to realize the promises of a New South,” they claim on their website.

Entertainment galore at the AvidXchange Music Factory

An abundance of music venues, numerous restaurants, a nightclub, and a multitude of bars can all be found at the AvidXchange Music Factory. This massive entertainment center has established itself as one of Charlotte’s premier venues for fun. Watch out for huge names that play at the Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre or go for something more low-key at The Underground. The food options range from German to Latin and you can find dive bars and karaoke too. There’s a little bit of everything at the AvidXchange Music Factory and it’s only a short cab ride away.
