4 outdoor parks to check out near our apartments in Broad Ripple

One of the greatest things about living at our Broad Ripple apartments is its fantastic location. Literally close to everything, you have dining, shopping, and fun right at your fingertips. And when nature is calling your name, there are some really great parks and trails nearby for you to get some fresh air and reconnect. Here are four awesome trails and parks near The Coil.

Monon Trail

Opened in 1999 as a 10-mile bike-and-pedestrian pathway, the Monon Trail has become one of the most popular outdoor destinations in the area, if not the region. Known as one of the “best urban biking experiences in the U.S.,” this railway-to-trail conversion project now has 20 miles of paved pathways to enjoy which connect you to arts, culture, and tourist attractions. Hop on the trail to head to your night-out destination, get your workout on, or simply get some fresh air. View the trail map and learn more on the Monon Trail website.

Central Canal Towpath

Just a seven-minute walk from our apartments near Butler University and you’ll find yourself at the starting point for the Central Canal Towpath. Designed for walking, bicycling, and cross-country skiing, this 5.23-mile trail gives access to Broad Ripple Village, Butler University, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and more. Learn more on the Central Canal Towpath website.

Broad Ripple Park

Boasting 62 acres, Broad Ripple Park borders the White River and offers a variety of programs and activities to over 150,000 visitors every year. The Family Center provides dance, fitness, safety, and self-defense classes for all ages. There is also an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, playground, bark park, walking/jogging path, and lots more. Get active with some recreational fun or just bring your favorite book and get some sun in the open green space. Learn more about facilities on the Broad Ripple Park website.

Marott Woods Nature Preserve

“Protecting some of the city’s oldest remnant forest and native wildflowers, Marott Woods Nature Preserve is an Indianapolis gem,” it says on the homepage, and it’s less than five minutes from our apartments in Broad Ripple. A place that is protecting nature but also providing a sanctuary to its visitors, this is the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Since it is a preserve, activities like off-path hiking, biking, fires, and off-leash animals are all illegal. Visit the Marott Woods Nature Preserve website for all the details.
