Summer is a time to enjoy the outdoors. With warmer temps and longer days, it’s time to bask in the sunshine, enjoy a picnic, and surround yourself with nature in all its glory. Residents of our apartments on Vance Jackson are going to be in pure bliss this summer. Not only is there a shimmering swimming pool that you can relax by, but there are also lots of great parks and green spaces near Reserve at Canyon Creek – here are some of our favorites.
Eisenhower Park
Just 15 minutes from our apartments in North San Antonio is Eisenhower Park. Take a relaxing walk on the 6.35-mile trail, dine al fresco at the outdoor grill and picnic area, and let the kiddos have a blast on the playground. There are also several pavilions that are available for rent for private events and parties. Learn more about the park, book a pavilion, and more on the Eisenhower Park website.
Denman Estate Park
Even closer to Reserve at Canyon Creek is Denman Estate Park – a quick 10-minute drive. This 21-acre park is the home of a “gift from South Korea to the people of San Antonio,” which is a Korean-style pavilion. Walk along the trail while taking in the beauty of the Korean architecture and gorgeous landscape with ponds and gardens. It’s the ideal spot to unwind after a long day or week of work. Learn more about the history of the park and the Korean pavilion on the Denman Estate Park website.
Brackenridge Park
Located just below the sources of the San Antonio River, the Brackenridge Park area has been known by humans for over 12,000 years. Currently one of San Antonio’s most beloved attractions, this 343-acre park has stunning tree-lined paths that span 2.2 miles of the river. Visitors will find playgrounds, the Witte Museum, San Antonio Zoo, a mini train, historic buildings, and even the oldest municipal golf course in Texas. Visit the Brackenridge Park website for a list of all the park’s amenities, history, and more.
Acequia Park
Take a half-hour drive and you’ll find yourself at Acequia Park. Located along the Mission Reach hike and bike trail across from Espada Park, this park offers picnic tables, BBQ grills, access to paddling and a 1.2-mile walking trail, bird and wildlife watching, a fishing pier, and a B-cyle bike rental. There is also a large pavilion that is available to reserve for private events. Head over to the Acequia Park website for details and pavilion reservations.
Crownridge Canyon Park
If you’re in search of tranquility and serene scenery, spend an afternoon at Crownridge Canyon Park. The 200-acre nature preserve features hiking trails for all ages, skill levels, and abilities. Visitors will find a canopy-level bridge overlook, gorgeous forested canyon bottoms, hillside vistas, and restored grasslands.
