There are so many reasons to love our apartments in Charlotte, NC —one of them being the fact that we’re very pet-friendly. We understand that your four-legged friend is an integral part of your life and, thankfully, the Queen City understands too. There are lots of restaurants, bars, outings, and events that welcome your fur baby—and they’re all just a short drive from our Charlotte apartments. Here are some of the most fun, dog-friendly ideas around the city.
Fun Outings
The U.S. National Whitewater Center
Get active with your pup at the U.S. National Whitewater Center. The 1,300-acre center sits right on the Catawba River and you’re more than welcome to bring your dog. Visitors to the center can enjoy over 50 miles of trails, just make sure to keep your dog on a leash at all times. Guests can also go kayaking, whitewater rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, mountain biking, and more. For trail maps, FAQs, day-pass, and membership information visit their website. Check their calendar for events, concerts, and festivals too.
QC Canine Design
Who doesn’t love a good spa day? Why not spoil your pooch at QC Canine Design? They offer a wide array of services to pamper your puppy. Schedule a ‘QC Spa Bath’ which includes two washes with hypoallergenic shampoo, coat conditioner, blow out, nail trim, ear cleaning, and more. Or if you’re short on time, stop in for a quick haircut instead. For a full list of services (and an adorable photo gallery of happy clients), visit their website.
Dining and Boozing with Your Buddy
Canine Café
Take your best buddy for a yummy treat at Canine Café. Inside, you’ll find a fun and unique store with all sorts of toys and accessories as well as an on-site bakery that specializes in healthy, all-natural dog treats, cakes, and pastries. If your pup could use a little cleaning up, there is also a DIY dog wash with individual tubs and all-natural shampoos. Visit their website for hours and more information.
Lucky Dog Bark and Brew
Sports, beer, cocktails, and dogs—can it really get any better than this? The dreamy combo of fun can be found at Lucky Dog Bark and Brew. Gather up your friends, those with and without fur, and visit their indoor/outdoor dog park with a sports bar. In addition to sipping drinks while you and your dog socialize, there is also a boarding, daycare, and grooming facility onsite. Visit their website for more information on this 21-and-over establishment.
The Dog Bar
Sit. Stay. Drink. That’s what The Dog Bar invites you to do. You and your friends can enjoy a beverage from their extensive list of beer, liquor, and wine, while your dog runs and plays in a climate-controlled environment. Purchase an annual membership fee for just $10 and be sure to keep an eye on their calendar for live music.
Birdsong Brewing
Craft beers, yummy food carts, and cute dogs are what you’ll find at Birdsong Brewing—and it’s less than a mile away from your front door. You’ll find 12 different taps that pour beers like the Higher Ground IPA, Rewind Lager, and Jalapeño Pale Ale and lots of local art on the walls. It’s a great place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some time with great company. Be sure to take a tour of the brewery while you’re there. Check out their website for events and more information.
Catawba Brewing
Catawba Brewing has been crafting delicious brews since 1999 and they invite you to sit down and enjoy one with your favorite furry friend. Try their Clear Ridge IPA, White Zombie White Ale, or Farmer Ted’s Cream Ale year-round, and keep an eye out for limited releases like King Coconut Porter, Friki Tiki Hazy Pineapple IPA, and Peanut Butter Jelly Time Raspberry Brown Ale. For a full list of beers and upcoming events, visit their website.
Wooden Robot Urban Farmhouse Brewery
Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on both patios at Wooden Robot Urban Farmhouse Brewery. They have a long and impressive list of beers, so you’ll have a hard time choosing which one to drink. Go fruity with a blueberry vanilla sour ale or opt for the hoppy route with a double dry-hopped IPA. Wooden Robot is open every day except Monday, so you’ll have to come back often to try them all. If you’re hungry, there are also rotating food trucks on site. Visit their website for more info.
Dog-Friendly Events
Pet Palooza
Put on the leash and head to the largest pet festival in Charlotte—Pet Palooza. You, your dog, and about 4,000 other attendees can check out over 100 vendors, live music, food trucks, a beer garden and more at this dog-centric event. You can even participate in a one-mile walk to raise funds for the Humane Society of Charlotte. The event, however, is free! Visit the festival’s website for details.
Ties and Tales Gala
Another event that benefits the Humane Society of Charlotte is the Ties and Tales Gala. It’s a black-tie, dog-friendly evening filled with fundraising, food, wine, and lots of cute dogs roaming around. And what dog doesn’t look adorable in a bowtie? Keep an eye on their website for upcoming information as the October event gets closer.
Tuck Fest
Tuck Fest is a free, pet-friendly, multi-day festival held at the U.S. National Whitewater Center that celebrates the outdoor lifestyle. Guests will enjoy over 150 clinics, live music, races, and yoga over the course of three days. There will be over 100 beers on tap and lots of food options as well.
