Swimming pool tips to make the most out of your Summer day at our East End Louisville apartments

There are so many wonderful things about living at our East Louisville apartments. One of the biggest perks of being a resident during the summer is having access to our gorgeous resort-style pool with personal cabanas, lounge areas, and an outdoor kitchen. It’s the perfect spot to bring your kids when you want to enjoy a day of fun, sun, and memories. Keep your family happy, safe, and prepared when you go to the pool at The Paddock at Eastpoint with these awesome and super helpful tips.

1.) Pack snacks for the whole family

With all that swimming, playing, and splashing around, you and your kiddos are bound to work up an appetite — packing snacks is a must. Make sure to always throw three types of snacks in your pool bag – protein, salts, and hydration. By doing so, you’ll make sure that you’re replenishing energy, replacing salts lost by sweating, and, of course, staying hydrated. Some yummy snacks to keep in mind are things like trail mix, lunch meat, pretzels, crackers, electrolyte drinks, fruit, and, most importantly – water.

2.) Dry clothes and towels

Other “must-have” items to bring to the pool are a dry set of clothes and extra towels. The towels might seem like a no-brainer because, well, you’re getting wet! But, be sure to pack a few extra towels just in case one ends up in the water or you need some extra drying off. Also, throw in some dry clothes for your family so you can avoid an uncomfortable wet walk back to your home – simply change in the clubhouse and you’re ready to go grab some food, head to your next outing, or just want to go home in comfort.

3.) Lots of sunscreen

Nothing feels better than the warm sun on your skin, but you want to make sure you’re protecting your skin – especially babies. Buy a variety of sun protection that includes lotions, sticks, sprays, and lip balm. Tender newborn skin deserves to be pampered with extra-gentle sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50, and you’ll want to make sure all of your other sunblocks have an SPF of at least 30. Teach your little ones how to apply it themselves (with your help, of course), and be sure to reapply every 60-80 minutes or after toweling off.

4.) Safety gear and toys

Playing in the pool is all about fun – but safety always comes first. Invest in pool gear and toys that help ensure your family’s safety – think inflatable rings, floaties, swimming vests, goggles, noodles, and more. There are so many fun pieces of equipment and water toys that double both as fun and a way to keep your kids safe.

5.) First aid

When you have kids, you know that anything can happen at any moment – including slips, trips, bug bites, and other small injuries and ouchies. Stay prepared for those hectic moments by bringing a few simple first aid items to the pool. Keep things like antibacterial wipes, bandages, tweezers, and a topical pain reliever in your pool bag, and store an ice pack in your cooler.
