Work, play, dining, relaxing, and ground-breaking research—you’ll find all those things and more at Research Triangle Park. Located just 15 minutes away from our Cary apartments, Research Triangle Park, endearingly known as The Triangle, is so much more than your average park. Known as one of the most prominent high-tech research and development parks in the country, The Triangle is rich in history, promotes endless opportunity, and is a massive pillar in the Raleigh-Durham area.

For residents of The Reserve at Cary Park, The Triangle is the ideal place to make use of free co-working space, enjoy a peaceful walk amongst the expansive trail system, or maybe grab a bite to eat. Learn more about the impressive facility below.

Overview

Research Triangle Park was created in 1959 by local and state governments, regional universities, and local business interests to help expand innovation in the area. Now, the park covers 7,000 acres and sits in a pine forest with approximately 22,500,000 square feet of built space.

Owned by the Research Triangle Foundation, the park is home to over 300 companies that employ over 55,000 workers and 10,000 contractors.

Co-Working Space

Known as Frontier RTP, The Triangle offers an open and dynamic environment of relaxed workspaces for visitors. Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Frontier FTP invites freelancers, students, entrepreneurs, and creative contributors to come and use the space for free—yes, free!

Not only does the co-working space offer free WiFi, but there are also five small meeting rooms that can accommodate a group of up to 25 people. They are also dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry best friend to work or study with you. Learn more about Frontier RTP here.

Walking and Biking Trails

Of course, work-life balance is crucial for well-being. Luckily, residents of our Cary apartments can take a break from studying or working and go immerse themselves in the nature that surrounds The Triangle. Featuring gorgeous scenery, trails, and recreational options, guests can spend hours roaming around the property.

Visitors will find over 20 miles of asphalt pedestrian trails, 4 miles of natural surface mountain biking trails, softball fields, and volleyball courts in the expansive park. Learn more about trails and recreation at The Triangle here.

Interested in fitness classes or joining a sports league? Research Triangle Park has those too. Learn more here.

Food

After working up an appetite walking around the massive campus, there is plenty of food and dining options in RTP. Local food trucks make an appearance at Frontier RTP every Monday through Thursday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, and on Fridays, Fidelity Investments hosts the Frontier Food Truck Rodeo, boasting 4 or more trucks at once.

Or, head over to The Lab where there are also local food truck visits during the same time on weekdays. Not feeling like eating what’s being offered today? No worries, there are lots of restaurants located on the perimeter of the park.

Boxyard RTP (Coming Soon)

Currently under construction is the Boxyard RTP—a 15,000-square-foot shipping container complex on the Frontier RTP area of campus. Inspired by Boxyard Tulsa, the development will feature experimental and creative food options and local products from regional vendors. Stay up to date on the progress of Boxyard RTP here.
