Every unit at our apartments in Durham, NC, comes with granite countertops, designer tile backsplashes, and stainless steel appliances. Our gorgeous kitchens make it easy to want to cook a delicious meal at home for family and friends. But for those days when you don’t feel like making a mess, or you just want to treat yourself, there are tons of awesome bars and restaurants nearby. Here are some of our favorite spots near Trinity Commons.

 

Bullock’s Bar-B-Cue

Located just over a mile from our apartments in Durham, NC is Bullock’s Bar-B-Cue. It’s impossible to live in North Carolina and not enjoy some mouthwatering barbecue, and this spot is doing it right. Start your meal with an appetizer of fried mac and cheese or dill pickle chips before ordering up some fried chicken, BBQ pork, brisket, or fall-off-the-bone ribs. Bar Virgile

“A unique bar with artfully crafted food and beverages in downtown Durham,” is how they welcome you on the Bar Virgile homepage. This restaurant and bar specialize in handcrafted cocktails as well as an impressive ever-changing dinner and small plates menu. Boasting one of the most extensive spirits selections in the Triangle, they offer a wide variety of whiskey, gin, rum, agave, and lots more. Juju

Just a five-minute drive from our Duke University apartments is the cozy and charming Juju. Known as one of Durham’s best-loved spots for lunch, drinks, or a night out, this spot serves everything from Hawaiian poke and Mongolian beef to shrimp dumplings and Singapore noodles. Kingfisher

Another fantastic choice for thoughtfully-designed cocktails is Kingfisher. Winning multiple awards and known for serving “ground-to-glass” cocktails in an artful basement, this is a spot that truly can’t be missed. Tobacco Road Sports Cafe 

Offering scratch-made Southern-inspired food that is locally sourced whenever possible, Tobacco Road Sports Cafe is located just ten minutes from our apartments in Durham, NC. Don’t let the name fool you, this is no average “sports bar.” The owners wanted to create a space that showed the big game but was also cooking up absolutely delicious, homemade food – that’s what you can expect when you walk through the door. Local 22

“At the corner of ‘feeling peckish’ and ‘charm your pants off with a good drink,’ you’ll find Local 22,” is what they say on their homepage. Start your dinner off with cast iron pimento cheese or skillet cornbread before moving on to a meal of lamb sausage pizza, shrimp and grits, or a spicy fried chicken sandwich. King’s Sandwich Shop

A walk-up burger stand dishing out sandwiches, hot dogs, and hand-dipped milkshakes since 1942, King’s Sandwich Shop has earned its spot as a neighborhood favorite.
