The founders of the zoo were German immigrants, like many families in Cincinnati at the time, and so the first guide book about the zoo was published in German in 1876. Ever since, it’s been beloved by many who travelled from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and other parts of Ohio to learn about animals with their children, and it remains a staple of Cincinnati to this day.The Cincinnati Zoo Today: Fun and Learning for the Whole Family There’s plenty to learn and do at the Cincinnati Zoo.
