Xavier University

Fast Facts

Xavier University is annually ranked among the country’s best universities and for great reason. The Jesuit Catholic University has a rich history dating back to 1831, and today, its three colleges offer over 90 undergraduate programs, over 60 minors, and over 40 graduate programs. It’s no surprise that their academics and athletics draw in approximately 6,500 students—4,500 of whom are undergraduates.

Xavier’s Academic Vision Statement is, “Xavier University, a comprehensive university in the Jesuit tradition, excels at educating students intellectually, morally and spiritually by challenging them to become men and women of integrity and compassion.”

Academics

As mentioned earlier, Xavier has no shortage of program options for both undergraduate and graduate students, all of which are offered within the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Professional Sciences, the Williams College of Business, and the College of Nursing.

Xavier’s College of Arts and Sciences is by far one of the most popular schools within the university due to its expansive undergraduate program offerings. Students can expect to find programs from applied physics and environmental science to music education and theology. For graduate programs, you’ll find coursework in history, English education, theology, and more.

Within the College of Professional Sciences, sought-after programs include criminal justice, psychology, and social work. For graduate students, there are dozens of program choices including clinical psychology, Montessori education, special education, and occupational therapy, plus many others.

And students can hone in on their business skills at the Williams College of Business with majors like accounting, finance, and management. Then, move on to graduate offerings such as customer analytics, accountancy, and executive MBA.

The College of Nursing, too, offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees, developing some of the most well-respected and knowledgeable health-care professionals in the Cincinnati area.

Athletics

When you’re a student or faculty member at Xavier, you’re bound to be a Musketeer fan. Xavier is part of the BIG EAST Conference with nine fellow private schools and they have some of the most dedicated athletes and fans out there. Basketball has become a huge part of their campus-life as well as community-life in the Cincinnati area, rivaling the court with the University of Cincinnati’s Bearcats. The school’s basketball team competes in NCAA Division I as part of the American Athletic Conference (AAC).
