An Overview
The University of North Carolina Charlotte, established in 1946, is the largest institution of higher education in the Charlotte area and is also the fastest-growing institution in the entire UNC system. They are a public research university that offers 23 doctoral, 64 master’s, and 140 bachelor’s degree programs through nine colleges.
In total, UNC Charlotte has three campuses: the Charlotte Research Institute Campus, Center City Campus, and the main campus – conveniently located near our Mallard Creek apartments.

The Campus
The University of North Carolina Charlotte’s main campus is quite beautiful. It sits on 1,000 acres of rolling land and is completely self-contained, so there are no roads that run through the campus. Students, faculty, and visitors can enjoy several man-made lakes, two gardens (which attract over 300,000 visitors a year), and densely wooded areas surrounding the campus.
