Being active and maintaining a sense of well-being is easy when you’re a resident of our East Louisville apartments. Whether you’re using our 24-hour fitness center, swimming in our resort-style pool, working out in your apartment, or utilizing one of the outdoor dog parks, there are so many ways to keep your body moving. And when you feel like exploring and getting outside, there are lots of excellent walking trails and parks nearby. Here are some of the best spots to get outdoors when you live at Sawyer East End.

 

E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park

Less than five minutes from our East End Louisville apartments is E.P “Tom” Sawyer State Park. This 554-acre gorgeous state park sits just outside of Louisville and is chock-full of fun recreational activities. Test your skills at the archery range, take a swim in the largest outdoor public pool in Louisville, hike on the Goose Creek Nature Trail, or get extreme on the Supercross BMX track. Coppiced Woods Trail

To experience the beauty of the region’s nature, you’ll definitely want to head to Coppiced Woods Trail. Talk a walk through the oak-hickory forest and notice single trees with two or more trunks—this is called coppicing, hence the name of the trail. This happens when fires, storms, logging, flooding, or even trampling by deer split the wood. Take in the unique and interesting sites along the 1.87-mile easy trail for hikers and cyclists alike. Hays Kennedy Park

Located less than 15 minutes from our East End Louisville apartments is Hays Kennedy Park. Adjacent to the Garvin Brown Preserve, this simple and idyllic park has over 78.41 acres of greenspace for you to play, relax, and explore. Putney’s Pond and Woodlands

Comprised of over 26 acres, Putney’s Pond and Woodlands is just a 10-minute drive from Sawyer East End. “From the woodland trails, which boast the State Champion Kentucky Coffee Tree, to the pond and surrounding wetlands, the park is truly one of Prospect’s treasures,” it states on the park’s website. Harrods Creek Park

Whether you’re looking for a casual, relaxing stroll or a heart-pumping, challenging hike, there is something for everyone when you explore Harrods Creek Park, just 9 miles from our East Louisville apartments. The well-marked trails climb an elevation of 83 feet and take approximately two and half hours to complete walking at a leisurely pace. The ‘Blue’ trail is your best bet for wildlife, the ‘Orange’ trail is the easiest with great views, and the ‘Red’ and ‘Green’ trails are the most rugged.
